מײַק בורשטײן: אַ חתונה אין שטעטל
A Yiddish Hassidic Musical Comedy by W. Segal, R. Wohl & L. LuxThe world famous Yiddish Hassidic Musical Comedy which Mike Burstyn's parents, Pesach'ke Burstein and Lillian Lux, the legendary stars of the Yiddish Theatre, performed through the world, is now immortalized on the cassette [VHS tape] taped at the Jerusalem Theatre in Israel before a live audience.
In this new production, directed by and starring Mike Burstyn and costarring his mother, Lillian Lux, together with a cast of Israel's leading Yiddish actors and full orchestra conducted by Rene Solmon, the spirit of the original production (first performed by Mike's father Pesach'ke in the 1930's) has been kept, while adding the excitement and nostalgia of performing Yiddish before a modern Israeli audience.
The hauntingly beautiful score and songs by Hermon Wohl and Lillian Lux and the turn-of-the-century story by William Segal about Yossele, the Rabbi's son, who becomes ad Yiddish actor and is therefore banished from his home on the eve of his wedding to his beloved bride Feygele, will continue to touch the hearts and souls of the viewers of this cassette as it did for their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.
