Gilgulim, a new Yiddish Literary magazine
The first issue of Gilgulim (Métamorphoses) has just been released. It features stories and poems by Yiddish writers from all around the world.
Gilgulim’s yearly issue will be home to Yiddish writers wishing to publish poetry, fiction, non fiction, theatre plays, or any other magazine-length material, such as diaries, personal notes, and travel writing material.
The magazine is edited out of Paris by Gilles Rozier. Yitskhok Niborski is the scholar linguist.
Twelve writers and translators have contributed in Gilgulim’s first issue : Ayzik Bargteyl (Russia), Rivke Basman Ben-Haim (Israël), Sholem Berger (United States) Lev Berinski (Israël), Berish Goldshtein (United States), Henri Lewi (France), Isroel Nekrasov (Russia), Yitskhok Niborski (France), Mikhoel Felsenbaum (Israell), Thomas Soxberger (Austria), Alexander Spiegelblatt (Israël), Velvl Tchernin (Israël).
We shall be celebrating the launch of Gilgulim, on Tueday April the 8th at 7 pm
at the Maison de la culture yiddish-Bibliothèque Medem, 18 passage Saint-Pierre-Amelot 75011 Paris, France.
Gilles Rozier and Yitskhok Niborski will be giving speeches and young Yiddish actors Macha Fogel and Hershl Grant will read material published in this issue. Cocktail party to follow.
