Frida G. de Cielak: Arele: 3-Volume Yiddish Course for Children
A delightful three-volume Yiddish course for children and other Yiddish beginners by Mexican Yiddish educator FRIDA G. de CIELAK.

From the author's description: ARELE is a modern, innovative, and agreeable program that has become a great help for teachers throughout the world, even for parents and grandparents, who are devoted to preserving Yiddish and have the goal of teaching our Mame-loshn as a second Language.

ARELE has proven to be a source of pleasure and enjoyable moments to both beginners and teachers, who have used it in Argentina, Australia, Canada, France, Mexico, South Africa, the USA.

ARELE, originally intended and designed for children, has proven to be an easy way to start Yiddish with older students also, even with adults, by being properly adjusted to their levels by their teachers and mentors.

The global didactic method used throughout the set of the ARELE workbooks follows the established order of the Yiddish alphabet, the Alef-Beys. In its pages students can learn in four stanzas the Alef-Beys Song elaborated with the book's vocabulary.

The ARELE Workbooks consist of a set of three volumes. This facilitates its use and allows the students to write on it. Its three books come each in a different color and its division respects the Alef-Beys order.

Its first volume, the green workbook, "ARELE I", begins with the letter "Alef" and goes on to the "Tes"; the red workbook, "ARELE II" - goes from "Yud" to "Fey" and the blue workbook, "ARELE III" - goes from "Tzadik" to "Sof".

Besides teaching the correct writing of the Yiddish letters, it includes in its didactic method, an analysis only of the first letter related to each new Yiddish vocabulary taught. Each letter is presented in colors at the beginning of words. The words are accompanied by simple drawings, and are presented again in short, simple sentences, phrases, songs, and poems. Besides the easy learning of its extensive basic vocabulary represented mostly in pictures, there are drawings, pasting, games, and various activities throughout the workbook. Softcover.
